The biggest printing group in Austria, Leykam Let's Print, is expanding its site in Müllendorf with another 48p Lithoman IV press. Together with two more 48p presses and a 64p press, Müllendorf is specialized in high volume printing in the group. Customers in whole Europe expect high quality print products, quickly and reliably produced.
High volume production means tight calculations. Down-times are to be avoided at all costs and waste has to be kept as low as possible. With a price per copy more or less "dictated" by the market, the performance and automation on press and post press decide about profitability of a job.
The Leykam group knows the RIMA-SYSTEM Post Press installations very well and is one of the biggest customers worldwide. A total of fifteen RS 400 palletizing robots (most of them integrated into Leykam's fully automated pallet logistic system) within the group, help to optimize production processes and keep the manning behind presses low.
In the latest installation at Müllendorf the short grain press with two deliveries will be equipped with an RS 840 double-stream trimmer, two RS 36S indexing stackers with RS 110 blocking units and an RS 400 palletizing robot.
A4 products are turned spine to the side before entering the RS 840 automatic trimmer for long side trim. After trimming the products are turned spine leading again before entering the compensating stacker.
Delta productions are turned from spine to the side to spine leading for a head and foot trim. The resulting two delta-landscape productions are then again turned by a bumpturn to enter with the new spine leading into the compensating stacker.
The stable stacks of magazine and delta products are then compressed and electrically charged before transported to the strapping units where they can optionally be single or cross-strapped. Loose or strapped bundles are palletized by the RS 400 high-speed 4-axis robot. The robot is equipped with an automatic pallet conveying system with additional buffer positions for full pallets.
With this order, Leykam added another Post Press system from RIMA-SYSTEM to its wide portfolio of presses which range from 16p to 72p today. The high flexibility of the RIMA-SYSTEM technology allows customers to work efficiently with different paginations and formats at low to maximum speed of modern presses. The low production costs and the long lifetime is an added bonus.
